Financial Aid/Scholarship Information

To apply for School of Music scholarships, fellowships and graduate assistantships, complete the online application.

Merit-Based Performance Scholarships

The School of Music annually awards more than 100 undergraduate music scholarships on the basis of outstanding musical ability as demonstrated by your audition or continuing progress in your program. These scholarship awards range from $1,000-$7,500.  For scholarship consideration, you must audition on or before February 10, and submit two letters of recommendation addressing your musical skills.  Decisions will be made on or about March 15 and recipients will be notified on or about April 1.

Academic Scholarships

The University offers a number of competitive academic scholarships for students with very strong high school records. Award amounts range from $1,000 for one year to $48,000 ($12,000 each year for four years).

You are considered for most University of Minnesota academic scholarships when you apply for admission. Priority consideration is given to students who submit the admission application by the December 15 priority application deadline. Those who apply after that date will be considered on a funds-available basis.

Note: academic scholarships awarded by University colleges are typically awarded to students who have been admitted to an Honors program.

Please refer to the Office of Admissions website at http://admissions.tc.umn.edu/costsaid/scholarships.html for the most current information about University academic scholarships.
