Drum Major Finalists Announced

The final candidates for the 2008 Drum Major position have been announced by the Drum Major Training Committee.

After two months of training, three final candidates have advanced to the Final Auditions, to be held on April 12 from 3-5 PM in the Bierman Athletic Complex.

The candidates to become the 59th Drum Major in UMMB history are:

• Brett Benson, Drumline, Bloomington
• Chesney Engquist, Tuba, Edina
• Aaron Marks, Mellophone, Fond du Lac, WI

A combination of leadership, teaching, performance, and other relevant skills are judged during the process. At the final audition, the candidates will have the opportunity to work and speak with members of the 2007 UMMB and give a brief pregame simulation. A poll of the 2007 UMMB members will take place as well as final deliberations by the committee. An announcement is expected around 5PM that day.

At 2:55 PM that day the Leadership Team for the 2008 UMMB will be announced.

The newly crowned Drum Major will officially begin duties on Friday, April 25 by leading members of the 2007 UMMB at the Spring Football Game at the Metrodome, beginning with the 5PM Gopher Victory Walk.
