This intensely moving and powerful social drama depicts the tragedy of a young woman's 'sin' in an intolerant, unforgiving society and her subsequent triumph through compassion, love and newfound understanding.
Join us for a forum to discuss the theme of society's hypocrisy and double standards with respect to male and female morality.
*Janáček extracted the text directly from Preissova's play Her Stepdaughter, making only some cuts and a few minor emendations to the original wording.
